Live-in Care

Our Live-In Care service gives you the option of staying in your home environment with the comfort of your personal things, memories, daily routine and familiar surroundings around you.

Designed for individuals that have learning and physical disabilities and clients with sensitive needs, such as someone in need of palliative care, or individuals that are elderly and frail. It offers you the freedom to choose what meal you would like to eat, when you would like to get up in the morning and when you want relatives and friends to visit you.

Live-in Care involves a carer residing with you, in your own home, for the duration of a required period. We place great importance in providing carers that have the relevant skills, experiences and personality to match your needs. Our carers are wonderful women and men from many walks of life. They range from bright, compassionate and experienced young people in their twenties, to mature individuals with an extensive background in care.

Prior to a Live-in Care assignment, our Live-in Care Co-ordinater will assess your needs. We can then tailor make any care plan to suit your requirements.

Basing Care is able to provide visiting home career’s within a five mile radius of the Basingstoke area and sleep in and Live-in Care within a 30 mile radius, (Subject to availability).

How do I ascertain what type of live-in care I will require?

For us to ascertain what type of live-in care you will require, we will need to visit you in your own home to carry out a “Level of Care” assessment. Our Live-in Care Co-ordinator will ask a series of questions about your needs so the appropriate level of care can be established. Once your assessment has been carried out and all of your care needs have been ascertained we will arrange a suitable start date for both parties.

On the first day the Live-in Care Co-ordinator and your personal carer will arrive at an agreed time. Our Live-in Care Co-ordinator will introduce you to your personal carer so you can explain your daily routines and preferences.

After this short settling-in period the Live-in Care Co-ordinator will leave you and your personal carer to get to know one another. Subsequently, you will be visited on regular intervals by the Co-ordinator to ensure that all aspects of your Live- in care package are running smoothly.

What do I need to provide for my personal carer?

Your personal carer will require their own warm comfortable room with a television, bed, wardrobe and chest of draws. This will allow your personal carer to have their own private space for the duration of their time off (if they wish not to go out). In addition, your personal carer will need a suitable quiet and private environment to have a good night sleep so they are able to provide the quality of care you need during the day. Your personal carer will also require suitable food and drink, normally your carer will accompany you and your family at meal times.

Will my personal carer require a break?

There is an expectation that your personal carer should be available from 7:30am to 10:00pm, but this does not necessarily mean that your personal carer should be working during all that time.

Your personal carer will need to have a 3-hour break during the afternoon, which is the legal requirement in-line with the working time directive. However, if this is not a convenient time due to your care needs a more suitable time can be negotiated.

How long will my personal carer stay with me?

Usually your personal carer will reside with you for approximately five to six weeks at a time. At the end of the care assignment your carer will take a short break (usually a week) and then is re-assigned to you for a further assignment. We take great care to place carers that have the relevant skills, experience and personality to match your needs.

How does Basing Care support my personal carer?

There is always support on the end of the phone. Your personal carer will have the support of our on duty Live-in Care Co-ordinator from 7am to 10pm, 7 days a week (including bank holidays) to help guide your personal carer with advice and support in time of emergencies.
