Faculty Awareness Training

All Basing Care training courses are delivered and designed to meet with National Induction Standards. These courses are not only a mandatory training requirement for all of our care staff, but can provide a learning faculty for personal carers that are self employed and are in need of updating their existing qualifications. These courses are also open to family members and friends who are care givers and who would like to become more knowledgeable and acquire the appropriate skills needed for their role as a carer.

Moving and Handling:

  • Legislation
  • Autonomy of the spine
  • Correct moving and handling techniques

Continence Care:

  • Different types of catheters
  • Connection/disconnection of night bags, outlet taps and support frames

Diabetes Awareness:

  • The pathology of Diabetes
  • Recognising the symptoms
  • Type 1 and 2 conditions
  • Diet and medication management

 

First Aid Awareness:

  • Introduction to first aid
  • Care of an unconscious casualty
  • Dealing with shock and hypothermia
  • Control of bleeding
  • Heart attacks
  • Recognising the onset of strokes and recovery positions

Dementia Care:

  • What is Dementia?
  • Types and causes of Dementia
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Caring for those affected by the condition

The duration of each course is approximately 2 hours, includes refreshments and held on site at our Basing Care office.
